In certain ways, the plot is a bit like vapor-- but that is comparatively unimportant in the unwinding of the patter-filled, action-strewn roller-coastering: Shady mystery-man Mr. Smith (Clive Owen) eventually partners with lady friend DQ (Monica Bellucci) -- who knew him as a client in the 'social comfort' industry -- to try to protect a baby he had chanced upon and rescued (after its mother was killed). He is constantly pursued by the hypocritical, evil Mr. Hertz (Paul Giamatti) and his multitudinous henchmen (who, whether they know it or not -- and they usually don't -- are involved in a multi-level, highly-covert, triple-crossing political agenda).
